The Global Engagement & Empowerment Forum on Sustainable Development (GEEF), co-hosted by the Institute for Global Engagement & Empowerment (IGEE) and the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens, is an annual international event where all stakeholders, including global leaders and experts, convene to collaborate towards accomplishing the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
“A Call to Action: Empower People, Share Prosperity” as its main theme, GEEF 2019 took place at Yonsei University on February 14-15, 2019. Next year, the Forum will be held under the theme of “Planet & Partnership” on February 26-27, 2020.
GEEF 2018 — Putting People and Planet at the Center
The first Forum featured a stellar line-up of speakers including current UNSG António Guterres; then-President of the UNGA Miroslav Lajčák; Founder and Executive Chairman of Alibaba, Jack Ma; as well as the Ban Ki-moon Centre’s co-chairs and Board members.
The Froum hosted 16 sessions and had 12 speakers, 65 organizations, and 42 partners and sponsors. More than 2,000 participants from 58 countries were registered.
GEEF 2019 — A Call to Action: Empower People, Share Prosperity
At the second Forum, the Ban Ki-moon Centre hosted a plenary session titled, “Women’s Empowerment for Inclusive and Sustainable Development,” and its Board members featured as keynote speakers at the plenary and parallel sessions.
The Forum hosted16 sessions and had 106 speakers, 66 organizations, and 13 partners and sponsors. More than 1,000 registered participants from 80 countries were registered.
